Democrats and Liberties

Comments

Yesterday I wrote amusingly about the Libertarian Dem meme ,  it is however not so amusing.

Words and terms has meaning and we should be very cautious when someone abusing the meaning of liberty or rights. To claim that someone has rights for roads also mean that someone else’s liberty and rights are going to be abused; To claim that someone has the right to “make a leaving”  mean that someone is forced to employ.

When we removing the nice slogans and the pure propaganda we having the same patronizing philosophy that “The government” is the best tool to regulate social life.  moreover, the real difference between the social republicans and the democrats isn’t about liberties or rights; the difference is only about which aspects should be regulated and which liberties should be taken.

When Kos telling you that the real option for libertarians in the coming elections is to line together with the democrats just ask what was the voting record on the Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act?

The bill, called the Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act, was passed unanimously by the Senate last month and cleared the House by a vote of 379-35. President Bush has vowed to sign the bill into law; it would allow the Federal Communications Commission to powerfully punish over-the-air broadcasters for airing raunchy content. The bill keeps cable and satellite broadcasters outside of the government’s authority to police the airwaves.

Jeff Jarvis calls it a tragic day, I still hope it will be a wakeup call.
