Shifting the focus

In my previous post I argued that RSS aggregators focus in the RSS and not in the content. In this post I will try to lay some more details about the content aggregator I would like to have.
Unlike the RSS aggregators, that request the user to subscribe to RSS url, the content aggregator will request the user to specify which content its desire to receive. The user will specify content types, level of writing, source or commentary and even specific writers. The application than will discover the content, update it and present it to me base on my personal preferences.
A great application will be able to present specific post , entire topic or a brief. A good example can be the latest controversy about the use of “Web 2.0 conference”. A lot was written about the subject from many points of view. It was pretty easy to find, at least in the beginning, the original post. However, and as time pass, following the discussion or simply filtering the content that I interest me become a challenge. on the other hand a content aggregator, focus on the goals I laid above, would be perfect: instead of having the discussion all over my current aggregator I’ll get it in one place, the aspects I cared about with ability to expand or to get a brief of the issue.
But it should not be limited to specific topic. It can be any aspect: the writer, news or commentary and many other different filters. And it should make constant adjustments based on the users click streams.
The future newspaper shouldn’t be a flood of content rather than a personalize content.
