Wireless Internet in Hilton Times Square

Comments

I got today to Hilton Times Square 30 minutes before the meeting and I thought to use this time to work. I opened my laptop and connected to the hotel wireless network with no problem. People that read this blog know that I’m not against paying for service; I don’t claim that the hotel should not charge for the wireless service. However the price that the Hilton charges for the great honor of connecting to its wireless network is $10 per day!
I assume that the hotel has T3 to supports its own network and PBX and might add the wireless on this T3, if they are doing so any charge is net revenue. However, even if the wireless network is completely separate from the hotel entire network, it doesn’t change the fact that the hotel over charge for the connection.
I do believe that service providers can ask for whatever price they can get. But I do not believe that we had to pay. Just down from the lobby I was out at starbucks the coffee isn’t that good but the price for the internet is fair!
