An Evening Out

When we can find someone to babysit for our angels we like to take advantage on the large selection of theaters and shows. We avoid Broadway because of the ridicules prices, and prefer to go to off-Broadway or even Off-Off-Broadway shows. It is easier to take “risk” with a show when the price is $15 for ticket but much less so when it is $100.

Tonight we went to see the show “From Israel to Sex in the City” a show that claims to:

tells the outrageous stories of an Israeli woman coming to the Big Apple and going through the cultural clashes between the Israeli mentality and the American mentality. Everything is being discussed: from mothers trying to hook you up with Jewish boys on the street, to on-line dating, sex (did you know that Israelis are allowed to have sex in their parents’ house even if they are not married?), politics, manners (well, Americans have manners, Israelis don’t), and spelling in English (it is really hard).

Iris Zieber, young and talented Israeli actress, falling in the trap of trying to tell too many things and actually saying nothing. The show, although funny and entertaining, doesn’t have a narrative from the anecdotal jokes and stories that Iris tells.

The Israeli salad, that Iris made during the show, however was very good
