Down memory lane
I first heard the melody of Vanglis’ “Conquest of Paradise” when it was used in The HaBima theater in Israel. It was used in a play about the famous, and tragical, Israeli general named Gorodish and they used the melody instead of the original melody of the anthem of the 7th armored brigade. It is much better melody, and the brigade commander that find the music inspiring ordered to adopt it instead of the original melody
I didn’t hear it for many years until I stumble on it accidentally today, and it is still very inspiring music. Although I don’t miss the military service “Conquest of Paradise” remind me the great time I had, serving as a staff officer in the 7th brigade. It reminds me the end of long brigade maneuvers, when after days of training we could have finally relax and start feeling the exhaustion. It remind me the great people of the brigade and how proud I was being one of them.
