Put Darfur in the Mid-Term Elections agenda

Comments

I’m receiving weekly e-mails from the Save Darfur Coalition, remainders that the people in Darfur are still victims of genocide. Today’s e-mail remind me what I should have realized long ago:

Right now, candidates for public office are traveling the campaign trail, listening and describing their visions for the future. With Election Day just two weeks away, we must speak up and ensure that Darfur is on their agenda.

One way to bring attention to the genocide in Darfur is by writing a letter to the editor of the local newspaper. That’s because as candidates run for office, they read the letter to the editor section closely to find out what is on the public’s mind.

Write a letter today. Make your voice heard and help make a difference.

The situation in Darfur isn’t getting any better and with its oil the international pressure and sanctions is pretty much ineffective. We should use the mid-term elections to make our representative commit for real action to stop the genocide in Darfur instead of the diplomatic games in the UN.
