Surprising

It is hard for me to believe, but after watching this news items twice, to make sure it was not an illusion I have to say: Geraldo Rivera "gets it". The problem with drunk, illegal immigrant, driver is he (or she) being drunk - not illegal immigrant.

Bill O’Reily, on the other hand, didn’t surprise me at all - he was simply Bill O’Reily…

Having watched this item only once (too much), I've finally got it. The problem is, that there are problems. More than one. And unrelated.
If I were forced to meet up in a dark alley with one of these problems, i.e. drunk driver or illegal immigrant, I'd probably choose the later. It seems to me that drunk drivers (yes… Jewish and Polish too :)) kill more often than illegal immigrants.
As tempting as it is to believe that had immigration policy been tighter, this specific accident would not have happened… such policy would probably reduce death by road accidents only marginally (if at all).
Not to mention that drunk driving is as every bit illegal as "illegal immigration". I wonder how what the news item would have looked like had the illegal immigrant been the victim of the accident. Oh… wait… American media doesn't really care, does it? Does the American public?

Well, it isn't surprising that you understood how ridiculous was O'Reilly's argument - But it was rather surprising to see that Rivera got it right :)
The logic part, and understanding cause and effect doesn't seems to be O'Reilly's strongest advantage...
As for the American media, it took me awhile to discover that it doesn't have an agenda at all. It is even more disappointing than if it has any, because now it has no excuse for it poor performance.
