The core issues

Comments

During the campaign the different candidates trying to identify, and address, the issues that matter the most for voters. Through polls, focus groups and many other methods the candidates try to isolate the core issues - would it be the war in Iraq? or maybe what will rally the voters this time be universal health care? or maybe it is going to be something completely different:

The first big scandal confronting Rudy Giuliani in his presidential quest has nothing to do with his personal life, his governing style in New York City, or his associations with people such as Bernie Kerik, his police commissioner now under criminal investigation.

No, it has to do with Rudy’s heresy as a Yankees fan: In hot pursuit of votes in next January’s New Hampshire primary, Giuliani declared that, because of his preference for the American League, he was rooting for the Red Sox in the World Series. No doubt he will now claim credit for their sweep against the Colorado Rockies, which we giddy Sox fans will deny him.

When Rudy came out for Boston, you’d have thought he had announced that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would be his running mate. The New York tabloids greeted the news with something less than tranquility.

"Traitor," shouted the New York Daily News. "Red Coat," opined the New York Post.

Now I have to wonder was the following Onion report a parody or a prediction :)

Thanks for the kind comments Ingrid. We are doing well and ready for our Israel trip in a week :)
Here are some resources that will help you learn more about Ron Paul:
    1. Articles - http://www.ronpaullibrary.org/
    2. Ron Paul's book about foreign policy - http://www.amazon.com/Foreign-Policy-Freedom-Co...

And yes, we see here too a lot of Ron Paul supporters. They are pretty active in NYC.

And you know what Rogel? Ron Paul has touched a nerve with a lot of people. It never seizes to surprise me how much this passion for Ron Paul runs deep, well, not him as such but what he stands for. I was hoping to post on him and do a bit more research. Of course, you're right, being passionate and knowledgeable(informed)are two very different things. I actually meant 'both'. So in that vein, I need to do a little more research on Ron Paul when I post. I do think he speaks truthfully and pragmatically. He's probably (don't know that for sure) the only one who has mentioned the state of the American dollar and the chinese buying them. I'm not libertarian and don't think I ever will be, but there are aspects of it I can identify with. Of course, there are aspects of other viewpoints that might seem counter that I can identify with as well.
Do you hear much about Ron Paul in your neck of the woods? His bumperstickers and posters (including home made ones) are all over the place here but naturally, he's from texas)
How is everything with your beautiful family? Are the girls' eyelashes like sunbeams still? (I so have a soft spot for brown eyes and curly eyelashes) I trust they're doing well and are healthy happy kids. You seem to have a solid family though and that (with a great mama at the helm let's face it!) is always a good recipe for a strong family,

The electorate in Israel is more passionate about some of the issues but not more informed - these are not the same qualities :)<div>If we are going to get someone in the White House from Texas I much rather it would be Ron Paul!  </div>

boy, it just goes to show. People put sports above politics. I can't help but stay irritated with the apathetic masses who do not have their priorities straight. I read an interesting article on Guliani in the New Republic (which I think you've introduced me to actually). Here in Texas, rumours abound with Perry (another one that ought to be impeached) being Rudy's potential running mate while Kaye Bailey Hutchinson is priming herself for the 'inherited' republican throne. sigh..well, I have enough going on not to stress myself out over that. People will wake up or wonder what happened when they've continued the cycle of partisan voting which will be at the detriment of the ordinary citizen..mark my word. Not that a lot of people notice much, they're watching the boob tube and vote the president based on which team he likes. Really, which politics gives you the most headache rogel? here in the US or back in Israel? ( I know, tricky question! Me, I think I could handle Israeli politics better, she said never having set foot in the country!!lol, at least the electorate is a bit more informed, no?)
