Remember remember the fifth of November

Comments

November the 5th is known in England for the Guy Fawkes night - a celebration for the foiled Gunpowder Plot and the saving of the parliament. But it contains also an anarchist motive, and the right of the people to use violence to remove unjust government - as it was explored in the movie V for Vendetta. Therefore I was not surprised to see that some of Ron Paul supporters are using the 5th of November to raise donations and awareness for their candidate.

I’m not an anarchist. I do think that government is essential to protection of individual rights and liberty. I also so what happened in a country when the central government didn’t have the monopoly on the means of violence and the country was in a midst of a civil war and anarchy. I also don’t like to entertain the notion of violent revolution were it is completely uncalled for. Furthermore, I’m certain that the Ron Paul campaign doesn’t support anarchist ideology - after all Ron Paul advocate in favor of the rule of law. I’m pretty sure that Ron Paul campaign would make clear, if needed, that it has nothing to do with this initiative, and it should.

That being said, I decided to place our quarterly donations for Ron Paul on November the 5th.
