Yesterday was the Democratic CNN/Youtube debate, and although I probably missed Hillary Clinton entertaining the crowed with some jokes, I think that my decision to keep reading my new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was better use of my time. After all the Harry Potter books are much better fantasy than the election promises in televised debate…

    Missing on one televised debate out of several, which has very little deviation in the questions and answers, might be less silly than you had suggested. Are you suggesting that missing any of the debates is silly? Maybe it be silly to miss any thing that the candidates (about 20 of them running around now, spreading premisses all over the place) might be silly? <div>And although the election process, and the political process at whole, are very important (unfortunately if i may add) it is not so important not to be completely devoted to it, nor to put off other things and not miss one of many debates. Taking pride of putting it in the right perspective is rather ... well ... not so silly :)</div>

    I may have misunderstood, but let us presume for a moment that I have not. Who ever claimed that learning about ones proclaimed (you seem to have missed that word) political agenda is the one and only thing you can learn from such debates? That, in and of itself, can be read in numerous publications, form hand-out leaflets to internet websites (and everything in-between). Political campaigning is made out of … well… political campaigns. And televised debates are a major part of these. Intentionally missing out on them is missing out on a major part of the electoral process. Knowing the kind of people who take part in campaigns and provide the expert advice for those campaigning… I'll bet most of them (the ones that take their job seriously) were glued to their seats… regardless of which candidate they support, or the previous knowledge they have on the candidates at hand. Taking pride in missing a major one... that's... well... silly.

    I think that you misunderstood, I would have missed a debate with any of the candidate just the same - regardless their public opinion. I don't think that you can argue that I disgust Clinton more than any other candidate - since I wrote the opposite.
    As of to the metter of how much one can actually learn about one's political agenda from a televised debate, well this might be interesting debate :)

    Funny, I think, that an out-right and blunt supporter (even activist) for another candidate would choose to do so without taking the time to follow up on other candidates. Knowledge is never dishonorable, and no matter why you choose to deprive yourself of it, whether it is your taste for children's literature or open disgust for a candidate or his/her politics – having chosen to miss out on an election milestone is really nothing to be proud about. On the contrary my friend…

    Didn't get a chance to watch the debates, but all I needed was to read the headline you linked to that said, "Hillary Clinton Says She is not a Big-Government Liberal" to know that I didn't miss much of any substance.

    That's hilarious.
