Its the economy stupid
In an NPR report about Ron Paul the interviewer was astonished by the fact that during a rally most of the applause were when Ron Paul said that the constitution doesn’t provide for a central bank. It was obvious that Ron Paul position on the war, or when he use general terms when discuss personal liberty will generate applause - but sound money? the Federal Reserve? why should the young crowd even care?
The answer is simple - because they are going to pay the price, they are already paying. And the price tag is scary.
Yes, the war in Iraq drawn the initial attention to Ron Paul, but it is the economy which will make the difference. As the unavoidable results of on going war, and irresponsible inflationary policy becoming more obvious many people, from unlikely corners of the political spectrum, stop dismissing the call for responsible and conservative economical policy. It is interesting to see when the first tier candidates will understand that they have to adopt some of the ideas, or at least the terminology, to maintain their chances to win.
