He is confused
In response to a question by an anti-war activist, about the fact that his sons didn’t enlisted to military service, Mitt Romney answered:
"The good news is that we have a volunteer Army and that’s the way we’re going to keep it," Romney told some 200 people gathered in an abbey near the Mississippi River that had been converted into a hotel. "My sons are all adults and they’ve made decisions about their careers and they’ve chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard."
Which would be a perfectly fine answer if he wouldn’t add:
One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I’d be a great president.
My expectations from a candidate that thinks that Battlefield Earth is a good novel were already pretty low, but the small confusion between the country’s interest and his own interests setting a new low. Maybe Mr. Romney isn’t aware, but he is not the state, nor does he have the divine right to rule.
And one more, not connected, comment. I really like Ron Paul’s first TV ad - it is focused to convince Republicans to vote for him, and it emphasize the points that important to them. Good job!
