Getting some momentum?
I was probably wrong in my assessments of the debate’s results and Ron Paul. It seems that Giuliani response and the small clash between the two candidates bought Ron Paul a valuable quality time in the mainstream news channels.
Dr. Paul did very well on CNN today, and continue the momentum with clarifying his position and attacking the front runner. It is important however to take advantage on this wave of interest, in the congressman from Texas, to deliver a broader message about the role of government and individual liberties rather than only the one issue of opposition to the war in Iraq.
I like Giuliani, I think that he was a great Mayor, and compare with the other leading candidates in both parties - he is the least bad. However, it is quite interesting how Giuliani, whose responsibility to counter terrorism was miniscule and as the Mayor of NY dealt with the result of such attack - but not with the prevention, is able to position himself as the authority in foreign policy and counter terrorism. Yes he demonstrated leadership at one of the toughest moments of the city, and the country, but it was in dealing with unfortunate results of the attack, not in fighting it.
