It looks obvious

Excitement about what exactly?

Comments

I am finding myself wondering what is the big excitement about Barack Obama’s presidential bid. I’m trying to figure out what is he standing for and all what I got so far are the slogans.

Politicians often trying to avoid real discussion about their core ideology, voting record or anything that might alienate potential voters. However it seems to me that Obama made it into his core campaign strategy. Unlike McCain that need to explain his position on abortion, Clinton on her support of the war in Iraq and Giuliani on what not,  Obama is busy being the cool guy.

While it is may a sound tactic for Obama, I would like to know more about what his ideology. It is all nice to say that we need to fix health care, education and many other thing that Obama promise fixing - I just would like to know what measures he is going to take in order to fix these things.

Until than I’m just going to nod my head and look in disbelief at the general excitement.

I'm with you. There's plenty of time yet to get into policy, but it's a little frustrating watching everyone fall in love with someone they know nearly nothing about. I recently brought up Bill Richardson to a friend. "Is he better than Obama?" she asked. Well, I don't know, what's Obama about?

Mystique works great in rock and roll -- and maybe just as well in politics. It's just harder to preserve in the latter. Plenty of time yet to find out what he's about. In the meantime, I'll be following candidates with better experience than T-shirts (folly, some will say).
