It looks obvious

Early indications

Comments

This report confirmed what I was suspecting:

Texas hasn’t gone Democratic in a presidential race in more than three decades. But the survey shows Republican contender Sen. John McCain essentially tied with Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton among registered voters, with McCain at 36% and Clinton at 35% in a head-to-head contest. Republican Rudy Giuliani and Clinton also are essentially tied, at 32%-31%.

Although it is very early in the presidential race this survey can be good indication for two phenomenon . The first one is the legend about how controversial is Hillary Clinton. Many Republicans, and her Democratic rivals, repeating the mantra that Hillary Clinton is simply too controversial and too divisive and therefore she is unelectable. As we will advance in the race we will see more surveys that indicate the opposite.

The second phenomena is how upset are Americans with the Republicans. It isn’t because American change their opinion since Reagan, Or after the the Republican success in the 1994 elections. It is mainly because the Republicans forgot that they had a Contract with America, and they failed to deliver. Watching the Republican leading candidates, and most of the second tier as well, doesn’t give much hope for improvement.

If the RNC doesn’t do anything radical, and just continue the course, the 2008 election will be more like the 2006 mid-term election than the 2004 election.
