Verizon, beware!

Comments

Few days ago Om published a story about Verizon practically increasing its prices simply by not dropping the USF charges. Not surprisingly everybody were all upset with this new "surcharge", Including apparently the FCC chairman:

But FCC Chairman Kevin Martin was "very upset" by Verizon and Bell South’s decision to keep the money, an FCC official said. A spokeswoman for Mr. Martin declined to comment.

How fortunate for Verizon’s and Bell South’s DSL users that the FCC chairman got very upset. Would he not becoming so upset they could only choose between paying the surcharge or moving to different carrier. however now they have the FCC issuing a formal inquiry and in few years, extensive discussions and many papers pushed between clerk A to clerk B they will force Verizon to drop the charges.

Wouldn’t it be better that Mr. Martin will get upset about "Baseball District Tax" or "Football District Tax" hidden in our phone bills? But I guess it is way too much to ask.
