It looks obvious

Picture worth a thousand words

This picture , from the cover of March 2007 volume of The Atlantic, is extremely disturbing. I can hear some of you smiling and being ready to comment something like :"Here is your Chines capitalism, touché!", well you should hold your horses.

Capitalism isn’t only a method of free market economy - regardless of the political regime, in fact Capitalism cannot exist in a society that isn’t free. The idea of separation between the efficiency of free market capitalism and its moral roots is wrong, and in fact cannot succeed for long.

It is common when debating the advantage and disadvantages of political theories to emphasize the efficiencies and deficiencies of the economical approach that derive from them. However since these economical theories are based on moral assumption they cannot exist separately from them.

The picture above isn’t a demonstration of the Chines Capitalism, it is a demonstration of the failure of the chines totalitarian regime to disguise itself as a free society.

And one last remark, I’m going to repeat my recommendation for the monthly magazine The Atlantic. It is a proof that we still have a place for in depth, serious coverage of wide variety of issues.
