It looks obvious

I don’t like monopolies, who does? I also believe that open source code might make sense as a business model. I do not except, however, forcing a company to open its code for its rival. I wondered in the past , and I keep wondering, what would happened if Microsoft decided not to give up to the EU’s extortion and announce that it stop doing business with Europe under the current condition.

It worked for Apple.

BRUSSELS, Belgium — The EU fined Microsoft Corp. $357 million on Wednesday for failing to obey its 2004 antitrust order to share program code with rivals and threatened new fines of €3 million ($3.82 million) a day beginning July 31.

Microsoft said the decision was unjust and it would take the matter to court. "We do not believe any fine, let alone a fine of this magnitude, is appropriate given the lack of clarity in the commission’s original decision and our good-faith efforts over the past two years," Microsoft General Counsel Brad Smith said in a statement. He said the U.S.-based software maker would appeal the fine in court.
