It looks obvious

The first amendment? What about it?

I do think that MoveOn.org ad was of poor taste and bad judgment, but that doesn’t mean that they should be silenced. It is really simple concept, and yet so hard for many people to grasp, Freedom of Speech includes all kind of speech also those we don’t like. It includes the Muhammad cartoons and the KKK right to march and it includes poor taste ads by political movement.

It is easy to dismiss McCain’s latest remarks, suggesting throwing members of MoveOn.org out of the country,  as a figure of speech, or to remind us that it is part of his attempt to boost his fading Presidential campaign. But knowing McCain’s love for authoritarian government, and his history in limiting the freedom of speech, I would take his remarks for what they are - another attempt to limit undesired speech. McCain could have, like many of the other candidates did, condemn the the ad; He could, like other did, take political advantage linking the ad to democratic candidates. But his choice of reaction is telling what kind of President he would have become - and we had enough of this.
