Freedom of speech? not in the Egyptian democracy

Comments

If you didn’t write to your representatives asking them to put pressure on the Egyptian government to release Kareem from Jail, here is another reason to write:

Huweida Taha Metwalli was stopped on her way to Qatar and 50 video tapes were found in her luggage, the Egyptian interior ministry said.

She is reportedly charged with "tarnishing Egypt’s reputation and harming Egyptian national interests".

Al-Jazeera said the tapes showed a "documentary reconstruction" by actors.

Human rights groups say it is not unusual for suspects to be tortured in Egyptian police stations.

One might suggest to put pressure on the UN Human Rights Council, but it would be a complete waste of time. The council only interest is condemning Israel, at least that is the only thing it did since its inauguration…
