It looks obvious

“Things should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.” — Albert Einstein

Et tu, Vermont?

Are they in a competition? Did someone declared a contest for nanny states and forget to tell us? I thought the the parents - teacher conference attending law was horrible enough, but than came the Ipod initiative and now this:

Vermont lawmakers are considering a measure that would ban eating, drinking, smoking, reading, writing, personal grooming, playing an instrument, "interacting with pets or cargo," talking on a cell phone or using any other personal communication device while driving. The punishment: a fine of up to $600.

Similar bills are under consideration in Maryland and Texas, and Connecticut has passed one that generically bans any activity that could interfere with the safe operation of a motor vehicle.

Now I can hear some of you jumping and arguing that these aren’t personal choices since they can cause accidents and kill other people. But the question is can you regulate all the activities that can cause an accidents? What about children noise from the back seat? shouldn’t we make that a punishable crime? and arguing with your spouse? And what if drinking soda is the method that keep me awake on a long drive, which is the case with me?

It isn’t funny, not at all.
