It looks obvious

Ask me for anything but time

Comments

News reports on the IDF requesting more time to complete its operation and this post about "buying time", in the business world, reminded me a sign we had in the Command and Staff college. It was expression attributed to Napoleon saying "Ask me for anything but time".

Time and again it seems that military operation fail to achieve their goal because of failure to factor correctly the diplomatic and political time frame given. Such operations doesn’t happened in a vacuum  and failed because they did not set achievable goals for realistic time frame.

Its seems that we are doomed to repeat learning what was already obvious to Napoleon…
