Ariel Sharon Fighting on his life

Comments

While writing this post the Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, is fighting for his life.  The brilliant military commander and the best Prime Minister had since its first fighting his toughest battle. However regardless of the medical results the Israeli election, scheduled for March 2006, which were closed game just this morning – are going to re-open.

The hope of finally changing the gridlock in the Israeli political map seems hopeless without someone with the popularity, and Machiavellian abilities, of Mr. Sharon.  In addition I don’t see a leader with his abilities to move the diplomatic maneuvers with the Palestinians. His ability to in one hand to get rid of Gaza and in the other to finalize recognized borders to Israel is still work in progress. A leader in lesser degree, and all other candidates are in not in the same league, will destroy what was built in years.

This is sad day for Israel and the region, although many people will need years to realize this.
