Beautiful Winter Day

When I moved to live in the US, following my love, more than seven years ago I knew that being an immigrant isn’t easy. I was prepared to start my career from the bottom; I was ready for language difficulties and cultural differences. But I wasn’t for one thing – the north eastern winter.
Born and lived in Israel I was used to pretty calm winter, even the many years I spend serving in the northern border of Israel did not prepare me for the NY winter. Living in Israel I was used that the weather forecast to minor and not important part of the news. So when I just moved to NY, in August of 1998, I could not understand the importance given to the weather in the local news.
But then after beautiful fall start the winter and I start to learn about thing such as wind chill factor. Walking in the street of NY that winter I learned that in order to enjoy the celebration of lights one need to be dressed well. Preparation to get to the street, no meter how brief, was not to be taken lightly. And yet no amount of preparation and clothing can help when the frozen wind blow and tiers covering your eyes.
I’m explaining this in some length so you can appreciate how happy I’m when during January weekend when the temperature is 46 degrees Fahrenheit (7 Celsius) and sunny. Such a great weather requires at least short visit in the neighborhood park. Tseela could not have wait and was very happy to finally go out to play in the park, while Ronie enjoyed it her way – sleeping.
I wish all the winter was just like this. As usual you can find more pictures here .
