Hypnotic
When I started to develop photography as more serious hobby I decided to separate my photography attempts from this blog. The mix of the writing with photography seemed to be wrong, and I think that it was the right decision. In general my photos can be found in my photo-blog or in Flickr and here I’m writing about “other” things.
But since this is a personal blog I wanted to tell you about a portrait I took today which I’m pretty proud of. I post here the medium size thumbnails but I seriously recommend watching it in large version. Compliments are not required, but highly welcomed
Along Rockland Lake
I didn’t write here for few days, the job search consumed my energy and I didn’t feel like writing. In the mean time here is a picture I captured yesterday when I was walking a long Rockland Lake.
I love walking along the lake - its relaxing and great for concentrating.
Home office
One of the most untold advantages of working from home office:
Although I have to say that alcohol drinking in some workplaces I know is not unheard of…
Empty Bucket
I don’t know if it is because of the approaching 4th of July weekend or that my reading abilities suddenly improved but empty reading queue is a very unusual:
Oh, the emptiness…
Did you try this yummy Giraffe?
Life is much simpler now that we know that giraffe meat is Kosher!
Not that it stopped me before. Unlike Jeffery Goldberg I was more than willing to try the different types of meat, and I have to say that I liked the Zebra very much. I have no special memories of the taste of the Giraffe, but it is to be expected after trying so many different animals.
The different restaurants Kenya has to offer should not be the main reason to visit this beautiful country. But when you are visiting there you should try to stay in the amazing Safari-Park hotel and eat dinner at the Nyama Choma Ranch. I actually am pretty anxious for the girls to be ready for a family safari in Kenya, for me it will be the 4th visit and I’m sure it will not be the last one.
Weekend special
This is perfect after a long week, when people are to tired to start discussion about serious subjects. I don’t know what in what language this is, although it sound pretty close to the language my grandparents used when they didn’t want us to understand what they are saying (and after they realize that some of us already understand some Yiddish). Enjoy:
Geeky post
Today I finally converted my old IBM ThinPad T43 to Ubuntu Linux. It took me a while to get on board and give Ubuntu a try and and so far so good. I am not convinced that the most users will be in love with the idea of using Terminal for things they use to get with a click on other operating systems, but this isn’t my problem.
My home office is now a declared windows free zone!
Down memory lane
I first heard the melody of Vanglis’ “Conquest of Paradise” when it was used in The HaBima theater in Israel. It was used in a play about the famous, and tragical, Israeli general named Gorodish and they used the melody instead of the original melody of the anthem of the 7th armored brigade. It is much better melody, and the brigade commander that find the music inspiring ordered to adopt it instead of the original melody
I didn’t hear it for many years until I stumble on it accidentally today, and it is still very inspiring music. Although I don’t miss the military service “Conquest of Paradise” remind me the great time I had, serving as a staff officer in the 7th brigade. It reminds me the end of long brigade maneuvers, when after days of training we could have finally relax and start feeling the exhaustion. It remind me the great people of the brigade and how proud I was being one of them.
Finaly here
It is a long flight and never easy, although Tseela behaved very well. But we are finally in Israel for vacation. I’m still trying to figure out how to work with the Idiotic Internet setup the ISP my mother choose set. It is amazing how few years of living in the US making someone used to expect comfort…
Long week
This was a very rough week, and it is still not over. Problems at work that had operational consequences and that had to be dealt with immediately, with the obvious pressure for fast solutions. It is Friday afternoon and I’m starting to fill the weight of the long week. No wonder than that what I’m doing now is bothering my wife at work with plans to go to vacation in Santorini or Tuscany.
Maybe next year, because in November I’m going to be in Israel.
