Tseela going to Nascar

Comments

I never understood why people interested in car races. How can you get excited from a sport event when you cannot watch the athlete himself, and all what you see are very fast moving boxes. But when a friend suggested to take the children to watch the Nascar Pocono 500 I agreed happily.

It is actually a very interesting event, where the race itself is the highlight of a weekend celebration. While I thought that car races are attracting mostly men I found out that it was a real family event.

My level of interest in the race itself increased as the race progressed. The winner won although he suffered from a flat tire early in race – and who can resist a story about the underdog winning against all odds ? However I still don’t understand why people so enjoy going to event when they cannot see about 80% of the race; and need to listen to broadcast to understand what is going on.

(this clip is a little bit exaggeration but it deliver my point)

The kids, by the way, had amazing day. More pictures can be found here .

Remmembering a friend

Comments

We went to school together from 7th grade through high school. He was a good student, not the best but pretty good. He was the one that you know you can trust, not because he made noise, but because he didn’t.

Then we went to the army, young boys full of adrenalin and motivation, wanting to be the best. I went to the naval academy and he went to flight school. As many others I ended in Infantry and he ended at the artillery corps. Soon we met in officers schools, proud and even more motivated.

I didn’t see him a lot since, His unit was in different rotation than mine and our vacation didn’t fall in the same time.  But we remained high school friends; boys from a little town in the south that need to prove to everybody that they are no less.

I saw him last at night. He was very excited, his contract was ending in a month and he had many plans for civilian life. We were still the high school friends and the world was beautiful.  In the morning, at the border crossing a suicide bomber killed my friend. His always around. where ever I’m, I remmember him and that his not, and I’m missing him more as time pass by.
