Desktop Editors - Revisit

Comments

Awhile ago I wrote a post about available editors which I’m checking and I promised to share my experience with each one of them. At the beginning of this task I downloaded 3 editors: Quamana, ecto and W.Bloggar.
After playing with these applications for few days I can say that all of them are fine solutions and would do fine job. Each one has its own strength and the final decision, if one must make one, depend on ones personal priorities and habits.
When checking I was focusing on several criteria, I’m sure that other user has different priorities. My criteria list included:
The ease of text editing - the 3 application has basic interface which allow easy text editing.
Tagging and categorization - in this category ecto is the better application. It allows categorization and tagging in the most comprehensive way. The user can select categories (this is obviously important only to Wordpress bloggers) and add categories on the fly. In addition, when tagging posts ecto keeps the previous tags for future use.
HTML editor - again the 3 applications offer the basic HTML editor, W.Bloggar has a cool toolbar with HTML Tags which make the editing simpler.
Posting - it is important to me to post drafts to my host and not directly to the blog. Although it seems like this should work in ecto I was able to post as draft only from W.Bloggar.
Price W.Bloggar and Quamana are free. I used the trial version of ecto for 20 days. In 14 days I’ll need to make a decision if it worth my $17.95.

If you curios which one did I choose I can tell you then I didnt. I’m using both ecto and W.Bloggar as Im going depend on my mood.
